NARS Bronzing Collection Swatches NARS Bronzing Collection Swatches View On One Page While I’m still waiting for Quirimba, here’s a round-up of all the other seven bronzer shades from the recently-released NARS Bronzing Collection, which featured updated bronzer packaging, new shades, and a few additional products across the Laguna colorway, plus two new Powerchrome Pigments.

I was absolutely gutted that I couldn’t get hold of the Nars Banc de Sable Palette when it was released a while ago (mostly because it was only available in the US/Sephora and all that jazz) but also because I told myself I didn’t need another highlighter – let alone a palette of three. Needless to say this was an instant regret when I saw all of the beautiful swatches by people on Instagram – stop making me jealous you! Therefore, when I saw the Nars Bord de Plage Palette at Space NK– I had to have it. The Nars website describes the palette as below:

  1. Nars Casino (£27): Nars casino is very much similar to Laguna, however it is deeper in tone. I love it if i want to look sun kissed and bronzed, this could also pass as a contour powder if your skin is deep enough in tone, lighter skin tones run the risk of having a muddy looking contour ( but if thats the look you’re going for, I say work it!).
  2. Casino is great on darker skins for a bronzer and for you would work good for a contour I think I would definitely swatch it up and see. Laguna would definitely be too light its more for the Fair to light medium, while Casino is medium to dark skin tones.
  3. N1 Casino offers new Laguna Vs Casino Nars players a three-part welcome package worth up to €300 plus 120 free spins – There are no false Laguna Vs Casino Nars starts here! Speeding on to our casino radars comes N1 Casino! This fast-paced and fun-fuelled casino serves up a healthy dose of your favourite games along with a few Laguna Vs Casino Nars surprises along the way to keep you.
  4. NARS Casino blended - heavily swatched, NARS Laguna heavily swatched - blended Laguna is a medium brown bronzer with a subtle gold shimmer. The shimmer in it is barely noticeable. The casino bronzer is a little bit darker with pretty much the same undertone.

Water-activated highlighters meet Sun Wash Diffusing Bronzer for a smoldering summer look. Four opalescent tones work effortlessly with skin to create a universal glow, as two light-diffusing bronzers add natural-looking warmth. Together, they create a second-skin luster that amplifies and intensifies.

I haven’t found that I’ve needed to use water with these highlights at all – but it is very fun when you do! The three highlighting shades called Corniche, Crique and Galet are unique to this palette and limited edition, with Rivage also appearing in the Banc de Sable Palette, whilst the bronzers (in Laguna and Casino) are both staples of the Nars line – albeit in their new ‘Sun Wash’ diffusing formulation.

Formulation – Nars Bord De Plage Palette

Highlighters

The formulation of the highlighters seems consistent within the palette – they’re all evenly pigmented and soft. Each one is more of a sheen than a glitter (which I often prefer), but without being too intense. All but the shade Galet is wearable on my fair skin tone.

My only negative is that they can feel quite dry on my skin if I don’t moisturise thoroughly beforehand.

Bronzers

These bronzers are beautiful in that they never apply patchily to the skin, and nor are they too pigmented. To me there is nothing worse than an overly pigmented bronzer that doesn’t blend – these do very well in this case. I find that even the darker shade, Casino, blends evenly enough that it still looks good on me – though I’d have never thought so in the pan.

Shades – Nars Bord De Plage Swatches

  • Rivage – A warm toned white highlight. (top left)
  • Crique – A light champagne highlight. (top middle)
  • Laguna – A neutral pale bronze. (top right)
  • Corniche – A pale pink toned highlight. (bottom left)
  • Galet – A intense dark gold highlight. (bottom middle)
  • Casino – A red toned dark bronze. (bottom right)

My favourite shade is Corniche on me – it has the strangest way of looking incredibly natural but really showing up and hitting the light. I use Rivage more to mix with the others to lighten them a tad (particularly Galet).

One of my favourite things out the Borde De Plage palette is that it’s relatively universal. Even the bronzers have depth too them; which, although not a problem for me is something I see often lacking in other palettes.

Did I need this palette ? No. Is this palette supremely beautiful and in my mind, at £45, rather good value? Yes. Would I recommend it? Again, yes – although if you were EXTREMELY fair or dark I might think twice.

I also think this would make a beautiful gift for anyone out there with a makeup lover in their life!

Bronzer

How can one not LOVE bronzer? Whether for the Kim K contour or the sun kissed just hopped off a plane look, bronzer is a girls best friend!

This post is dedicated to comparing the so called “staple” bronzers that beauty bloggers rave about constantly. Now , I know from experience that following popular opinion doesn’t always turn out the way one would expect it to, so , if you are confused between the two shades available by Nars, look no further for the answer is here!

Contestant number one : Nars – Laguna (£27)

This bronzer is clearly not the cheapest bronzer out there, but boy is it worth every single penny! I hate to rave about this product as I’m sure you’ve all heard it before, but this is the one product I will say deserves the “hype” surrounding it !

There are many positives to this bronzer, firstly being that it is an amazing multi-functional powder, If you are young or not particularly familiar with makeup or how to apply it, this bronzer is amazing to use as an eyeshadow! It means avoiding the complicated nature of applying two or more shadows and blending them to perfection, Laguna all over the lid and blended up to the crease makes for a beautiful easy to blend shadow, especially for us brown eyed ladies ! (and us ladies who don’t like to spend too much time on their makeup! )

I also often use it as a blush, in other words I’ll apply the bronzer all other my cheeks, and go in with a darker colour ( often casino) for a sharper contour if that is the look I am going for. It’s always nice to have an all over bronze look with dewy skin, it suits every single skin tone and is impossible to get wrong.

Secondly, and perhaps the most important point, it makes for an amazing bronzer ! Now, if you’re using it with the intention of contouring don’t be worried if you spot shimmer in the pan, this does not transfer to your face, it does have a sheen, but somehow it still has the effect of a matte bronzer ( magic LOL!) , so for the purposes of this post, we’ll call it a matte finish. Thus, if you’re going for that Kim K contour this will give you just that, I also find that it is incredibly difficult to over do it with this bronzer, your brush will always pick up the perfect amount of bronzer every time.

However, be warned that if you prefer a sun kissed look , then this shade may disappoint, as it tends to provide a very natural looking contour as opposed to a sun kissed bronze, however, what I would recommend instead is the:

Nars Casino (£27):

Nars casino is very much similar to Laguna, however it is deeper in tone. I love it if i want to look sun kissed and bronzed, this could also pass as a contour powder if your skin is deep enough in tone, lighter skin tones run the risk of having a muddy looking contour( but if thats the look you’re going for, I say work it!)

I will stress however, not to be put off from purchasing Casino if you are lighter in skin tone, as again it works brilliantly at bronzing your complexion in a natural way, it will bronze your skin in a way that makes you look naturally tan, but in a deeper colour and less natural looking way than Laguna otherwise would.

Again this can double up as an eyeshadow, and be used as a blush alternative when one wants to simply achieve a bronzed look , this again has a sheen but achieves the effect of a matte bronzer.

Nars Laguna Vs. Casino Swatch

I also want to bring attention to the fact that this bronzer is MASSIVELY under rated, I prefer it to Laguna on many occasions as I am definitely a wear it all or wear none at all kind of girl. If I wear bronzer I want to look bronzy ( not sure if that word exists LOL), whereas Laguna does lead to a more natural look. ( which I often go for when in a rush )

The verdict is definitely a tie, I love both products equally, and if one has the means I would definitely recommend both, however , different people will have different criteria and needs

To sum up, If:

a. you like a natural look and contour

Nars Laguna Vs Casino Bronzer Duo

b. you have a very fair complexion

c. you want the perfect toned contour powder

go for Laguna !

If:

a. you have a medium to deep skin tone, ( not necessarily as I am an NC20 in Mac and still adore casino for a bronzed look, but if you’re looking to contour definitely NC30+)

Nars Casino Swatch

b. you want to look as if you’ve just been to the Caribbean

go for Casino!

Hope this helps make your decision a tad bit easier! Or even persuaded you to try either of the products, let me know your thoughts and opinions guys! xoxo
